Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about electrolysis — how it works, what to expect, and why it’s the only FDA-recognized permanent hair removal method.
What is Electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a permanent hair removal method that treats hair at the follicle using a tiny probe and a micro-pulse of electricity. Once a follicle is properly treated during the growth phase, it will not produce hair again.
A tiny probe targets the follicle — not the surrounding skin.
Top Questions
Is electrolysis permanent?
Yes. Electrolysis is the only FDA-recognized method for permanent hair removal. It destroys the hair growth cells inside the follicle, so the hair can’t regrow.
Does electrolysis have side effects?
Immediately after treatment, some clients experience temporary redness or tenderness. This is normal and usually resolves quickly. You’ll also receive aftercare instructions to keep skin calm and clean.
What areas and hair types can electrolysis treat?
Electrolysis can treat any area of the body and works on all skin types and hair colors. Unlike laser, it is effective on red, gray, blonde, and white hair.
How does electrolysis compare to laser?
Laser typically provides hair reduction, not permanent removal. Electrolysis is the only method recognized for permanent hair removal and works on every hair color and skin tone.
How long will treatments take?
Appointment times vary by area — from short follow-ups to longer sessions for larger zones. Most clients who follow a consistent plan finish (or are very close) within about 18 months.
Will I need multiple sessions?
Yes. Hair grows in cycles, and not every follicle is active at the same time. Coarser or deeply rooted hairs may also require more than one treatment to fully disable the follicle.
What factors affect my treatment plan?
Treatment length depends on hair cycles, density, genetics, hormones, medications, previous hair removal methods, and even stress. Your plan is customized to your goals and your hair type.
Before Your Appointment
- Avoid caffeine, sun exposure, and retinol-based products beforehand
- Arrive with clean skin (remove makeup if applicable)
- Exfoliate gently the day before (face or body scrub)
- If desired, apply numbing cream 30–45 minutes before
After Your Appointment
- Avoid sun exposure and retinol-based products for a bit
- Use gentle cleansing and keep the area clean
- Cool compresses are okay (avoid ice)
- Finipil is a great soothing post-treatment option
Why Electrolysis Works
Electrolysis targets the follicle directly. Because it does not rely on pigment (melanin), it works safely across a wide range of skin tones and hair colors.
It’s also an excellent option for post-laser cleanup and stubborn hairs that laser can’t fully eliminate.

Cancelation Policy
Your appointment is critical! It is reserved especially for you. We understand that unexpected events happen in everyone’s life; sometimes, schedule adjustments are necessary. Therefore, in fairness to all clients, the following policies apply:
To avoid a cancelation fee, 24-hour advance notice is required when canceling all appointments. This allows someone else to fill your appointment time. A 50% deposit will be required to secure your booking appointment time. **Clients who give less than 24 hours of cancelation notice will be charged 50% of their scheduled service fee. Please understand that clients on my waiting list miss the opportunity to receive services when they forget or cancel their appointment without giving 24 hours' notice. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
No-Shows
All "no-shows" will be charged 100% of their scheduled service and may be restricted in scheduling future appointments.
Late Arrivals
If you arrive late to your scheduled appointment, your session may be shortened to accommodate guests following your appointment. We allow a 15-minute grace period, after which the appointment will be considered a no-show and must be rescheduled. You will be responsible for paying the no-show/cancelation fee.
Out of respect and consideration for your clinician and other guests, please arrive on time.
